Which Are The Best Dishwashers?

!±8± Which Are The Best Dishwashers?

There are plenty of dishwashers on the market. In fact so many that choosing one could be a bit overwhelming? So which are the best dishwashers?

The answer to that question is simpler than you might have imagined. The best dishwasher is the one that has the features, size, and warranty that you are looking for. So whether you are in the market for one of the more pricey stainless dishwashers or whether you are looking for economy consider this:

1. Capacity

Do you want the standard 24" size or the compact 18" size? An 18" is a good choice for a household with 2 or 3 people in it. It will hold 8 place settings. A 24" which is standard dishwasher size will hold 14 place settings.

2. Type

Will that be portable, built in, or a counter top models. There is a dishwasher for every kitchen size. The countertop style works great in close quarters and a portable is a smart option if you are renting.

3. Energy

These days we are all much more energy conscious and so besides what the government dictates consumers are dictating that it's important for the dishwasher to conserve water and electricity.

4. Washing Cycles

Dishwashers usually have several cycles and cycle combinations which may include Normal, Light, Pots & Pans, Econo, and Rinse Only. Some cycles work better for glassware while others work better for greasy dishes. Make sure the dishwasher you choose has the cycles you will want to use most often.

5. Performance

How well your dishwasher performs depends on the washing cycle structure, the type of detergent used, and the rinse. The overall performance will be determined by a host of factors including the wash cycle, the load on the dishwasher, and what's being washed.

6. Stacking

Check the design structure inside the dishwasher. The rack layout makes a huge difference on how many dishes you can fit inside. Some will also have special features like a cutlery tray in the door. Some will have a special wine glass rack. This is the place you get to save space with the right layout.

7. Maker

There are plenty of great manufacturers to choose from. If you have a favorite go with it. Not sure? Then do a little research and see who's reputation is the best and who's getting noticed for a superior product. Whirlpool is world known but it isn't the only great manufacturer so do your research.

8. Budget

Start by setting your budget. When it comes to dishwashers you can spend anywhere form a couple of hundred to a couple of thousand. At the end of the day they all wash your dishes clean. The difference is in how they accomplish this and what additional features they offer. So set your budget and stick to it.

The best dishwashers on the market are the ones that do the job you need them to do. Shopping online can provide you with some great buys. So why not start now?

Is My House Haunted?

!±8± Is My House Haunted?

How do you know if your house is haunted? You have all heard bumps in the night at one time or another, but are these just the normal sounds of your house or could it be paranormal? We all know that it's difficult to prove paranormal activity. You can see a few of the ways this is done by watching investigators on TV study the scene with EMF detectors and other equipment. Could there be an easy way to have an idea of whether or not you have a ghost in your house without getting investigators involved and possibly embarrassing yourself?

There are so many factors that can contribute to shadows, lights, noises and displaced objects that you must do your research, especially if the idea of ghosts scares you. As boring as it sounds, the best way to narrow down the possibilities is to try to find a reasonable explanation for what you consider to be paranormal activity. You don't want to freak yourself out for no reason. This is what we've been attempting to do at my house.

My husband, my daughter and I have all heard the sound of a kitchen chair moving like someone is about to sit down. We've heard the sound of what seemed like a fork being placed down on a plate. I've seen a fast moving light cross my dining room at the corner of my eye with no valid explanation. If you read my articles, you will know that my TV in the bedroom has shut off by itself every night since we moved in and I noticed over time that it is right after we fall asleep. I unplugged my alarm clock in the same room and plugged the fan into that outlet over this past weekend (a separate outlet from the TV). The fan shut off by itself sometime after we fell asleep and even I need to turn that knob with a decent amount of pressure to get it to shut off. My dining room light flickers on occasion but our house is fairly old, so I never thought of that as paranormal. It does, however, seem like every time I watch a horror movie or ghostly TV show, my dining room light flickers more dramatically and repeatedly. What do you think?

You're most likely wondering if the house has a history typical of those that are haunted. I suppose you could say that it does but not in the traumatic sense that you hear about in your typical ghost story. Our house has a fairly peaceful history though we've had a few deaths there. It was once my grandparent's house and they both passed away there within about two years of each other. They passed on as peacefully as one could hope, surrounded by family that cared deeply for them.

If we do have a spirit in our home and I had to guess who it was, I would have to say that it's my grandfather. He loved children more than anything in this world and he and my grandmother spoiled their four grandchildren including me. My grandfather was still alive when I had my daughter and passed when she was about 1 ½ years old. He loved her dearly and spoiled her just as much as the rest of us. Being around her helped him deal with the loss of my grandmother. Papa was very particular about keeping the house as clean and tidy as possible. You would never see a dirty dish in their sink or a speck of dust on a piece of furniture. He never left anything electrical running if it was not being used and always shut the windows when he and my grandmother went out in preparation for a possible rain shower.

My lifestyle is much busier than my grandparents' used to be and although I keep a very clean house, I do not have a dishwasher so you may see a dish or two in my sink after a late dinner. We are not huge fans of sleeping in the pitch black without any background noise, so we will often leave the TV on, set on the quietest volume level. If my grandfather were here, both of these things would have driven him batty, so perhaps that is what's happening now. I can imagine him wanting me to save money and shutting the TV off to cut down on electrical costs. The fan would require even more energy than the small TV I have in my room. He may want to wash my dishes (I think he actually enjoyed that) and this might be the explanation for the reoccurring sound of a dish or two settling in the sink. The dining room chandelier flickering has me a little baffled because this actually seems like an attention getter and Papa was not the type to pull pranks.

I have the ghost side of the explanation down to a science. The difficult part is figuring out whether or not there are practical explanations to these occurrences. The question is, do I really want a rational explanation? The answer is sometimes yes and sometimes no. Assuming that we do have a spirit and it is my grandfather, this is a comforting feeling and makes the house feel even more like home. The times when I am watching a scary show or movie and the chandelier starts flickering like mad is not a comforting situation at all. I don't think my grandfather would want me to be scared, so I would like a rational explanation for this. I did some research on the types of "paranormal" occurrences that happen at my house.

The light flickering could be an electrical issue and I read that there could be a serious problem with the electrical wiring if all the lights were flickering which was a little concerning. Another explanation would be that the appliances that are connected to the same fuse are taking up too much electricity when they are running at the same time. My living room and dining room are connected and share the same fuse. We will usually watch TV without the dining room light on. I do turn it on if it's late to help me stay awake for a late show on TV or if I want a little extra light when watching a scary show or movie! I have the old-school Sony HD TV that weighs about 500 lbs. and requires plenty of electricity. Perhaps the light flickers after the TV has been on long enough to take up too much electricity. There is also the possibility that the dimmer on the light switch may be on its way out.

I learned that ghosts are not particularly fond of unwashed dishes! I've heard sounds before like someone was shuffling through unwashed dishes when the sink was almost full, but the fork sound that I mentioned happened at night when everything was washed and put away in the cabinets. It sounded like it came from the kitchen table and the table was clear. This one was hard to explain. I found that the TV or fan shutting off on its own every night as well as seeing a passing light at the corner of my eye are common situations that occur when a residual haunting is present. A residual haunting is basically a replay of past events rather than having an actual spirit in the house. Knowing my grandfather, he might have had a scheduled time when he turned off all of the electrical appliances every night. The idea of a "residual haunting" seems so formal and detached. I prefer to think that my grandfather is still watching over us from time to time. Maybe this is far-fetched but this is my way of keeping him alive in my heart. Who knows? It might be true.

How To Choose The Best Fruit Juicer

!±8± How To Choose The Best Fruit Juicer

What are the basics of fruit juicers? If you know them, you can better get the best model for you. Juicers first came on the scene in 1930, when Dr. Norman Walker invented the first one. He must have partaken in juicing himself, as he lived to be 108 years old.

Juicing helps you easily get the recommended servings of fruits and vegetables every day. Many are not doing so, and the vagaries of this show up in lack of stamina and energy, as well as other health ailments. Juicing is ideal for cancer patients who have finished their treatments.

It can help them access much needed vitamins and minerals lost from chemotherapy treatments, for example, and can strengthen their immune systems. It can also flush out unwanted toxins after chemotherapy.

Although juicing is beneficial, it can also be detrimental if it's not done properly. If you drink too much juice from high-sugar fruits and vegetables, it can adversely affect blood sugar levels for those who need to control them. Sugars from natural fruits quickly enter the bloodstream, which can cause spikes in blood sugar.

As long as you use juicing moderately to benefit your health and don't overdo it, you will gain benefits for a lifetime. It can be a very healthy habit to incorporate into your lifestyle.

So What Is A Juicer?

A juicer is an appliance operates manually or electrically. It extracts juice from vegetables, fruits and leafy greens. There are different types geared to specific types of fruits or vegetables.

Some fruit juicers look a lot like blenders. However, the juicer will have some kind of mechanism to separate the pulp from the juice. A blender simply grinds fruits or vegetables up and the pulp must be manually strained out of the juice.

Juicers' mechanisms of extraction may also differ. Some common types include centrifugal, centrifugal ejection, masticating, manual press, single auger, dual cage auger and twin press.

Centrifugal types are one of the oldest. They have a simple design, utilizing a shredder and a strainer. This design uses centrifugal force to extract the juice from the pulp.

Centrifugal ejection models are similar to centrifugal juicers. However, in the centrifugal ejection type, the basket has slanted sides. This makes it easy to clean. One of its disadvantages is that it is noisy. It is very user-friendly, though, and the maintenance is simple.

The masticating type juicer has a slow speed motor that masticates the fruits and vegetables. The manual press juicer is one that retains juice nutrients best, because no oxidation occurs during the extraction process. Rather, it uses pressure to extract juice.

How to Shop for the Best Model

Perhaps the first thing people consider is the cost. Although not always true that that high price means high quality, there is some correlation. Other important factors also need to be considered.

First, the machine must be user-friendly. It should be easy to clean and operate.

Second, look for a reliable brand so you won't have to replace parts often.

Third, slow speed juicers are best, as they reduce oxidation. You should also be able to extract a good quantity of juice from the fruits and vegetables.

Some models give you more pulp than juice. Models that extract the pulp to an outside container leave less pulp behind than those that do so inside the machine. The model you choose should also be dishwasher safe and compact.

Some popular and reliable brands are; Champion, Omega, Nutrisource, Lequip, Juice Fountain, Samson, Solo Star, Green Star and Green Power.

Dyson DC15 "The Ball" Vacuum Cleaner Review

!±8± Dyson DC15 "The Ball" Vacuum Cleaner Review

Several years ago James Dyson revolutionized the vacuum industry with the release of a new line of vacuum cleaner that does not lose suction over time. This line of vacuum as follow all Dyson vacuum cleaner uses a patented Root Cyclone, where dust and other debris from the air is literally thrown by centrifugal force. The contaminated air is spun rapidly in a circular pattern until almost all the particles are thrown into the air and in vacuum of the collection chamber. In contrast to normalVacuum cleaner, where the stock exchange increasingly congested with the addition of more debris, ever prevented Dyson airflow which inlet and ongoing.

Now Dyson has introduced another revolutionary feature:. "The ball" Instead of relying on conventional wheels as vacuum cleaners, Dyson DC15 series vacuum actually is to move the top of a heavy ball at the base of the vacuum, which contains the vacuum motor. This keeps the focus is very low, so that smootheasier handling. The ball allows the vacuum to twist and turn around nearly any piece of furniture and into small tight spaces. The maneuverability of the ball vacuum is simply unmatched by an vacuum using the standard wheel system. This is an especially important advancement for Dyson vacuum cleaners that tend to put strain on some users due to their weight and suction power. The ball helps the vacuum overcome its powerful and slightly cumbersome nature.

The DC15 "The Ball" series currently contains four vacuum models: the all floors, animal, total clean, and full kit. The all floors model is somewhat the bare bones options, containing no extra or add-on tools. All the other vacuum models come with the very popular mini turbine head, which is simply wonderful at removing unwanted pet hair from furniture upholstery. The animal, which is typically the best selling model of the four, sells for about 9 and also contains the low reach floor tool and effective carpet cleaning kit.

When considering purchasing a Dyson vacuum cleaner, we highly recommend you take a look at one of the DC15 "The Ball" models. They may cost a little more, but they are certainly easier to handle than your average vacuum. They really do make vacuuming as much of a pleasure as it could possibly be.
